AADHAAR Card is a randomly generated 12 digits unique identification number assigned to the resident of India. It is issued by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) on behalf of the Government of India. It is available to all the legal residents of India and all Indian citizen regardless of their resident status. All legal residents of India, including Indian citizen, foreign nationals and OCIs who are legal residents of India regardless of their nationality and / or citizenship, as well as all NRI (non resident Indian citizen) who are resident of other countries, are eligible to enrol in AADHAAR. AADHAAR Card can be enrolled in by all eligible candidates voluntarily regardless of their age, gender, caste, religion or financial status. New born child and kids upto age 5 are eligible for blue color Baal AADHAAR Card.
AADHAAR Card Fees & Charges
AADHAAR Card enrolment is free of cost, there is no fees / charges of any kind to apply for new AADHAAR Card. Mandatory biometric update for kids from age 5 upto 17 is also free. Fees for small PVC AADHAAR Card is ₹75. To update demographic information, such as name and address, the charges are ₹75. Fees to update biometric (fingerprints/iris/photo) is ₹125 for residents over age 15. If demographic information and biometrics are updated at the same time, ₹125 fees will be charged. To get a physical copy of AADHAAR Card printout, the charges are ₹40. For home enrolment services for elderly and disabled, ₹700 will be charged for the first applicant and ₹350 will be the fees for each additional applicant at the same address.
AADHAAR Card Safety Features
Whoever wishes to apply for AADHAAR Card has to provide their demographic and biometric (iris scan, fingerprints scan and photograph) information during the enrolment process. Details like caste, religion, income, health, geography, etc. are not captured in the AADHAAR Card enrolment process. Individuals can enrol for AADHAAR Card only once, any attempt to enrol multiple times will be rejected by the process of de-duplication using their demographic and biometric information. This de-duplication process makes sure that only one AADHAAR Card is issued to the enrolling individual.
