Procedure to add / change date of birth in AADHAAR Card is made quick, hassle free and user friendly by UIDAI. Date of birth change is a very rarely requested update in AADHAAR Card only when there is either a mistake in the date of birth on AADHAAR Card or when the applicant now has a valid Proof of Date of Birth document but did not submit a valid Proof of Date of Birth at the time of AADHAAR Card enrolment and had to put a tick mark in the Declared box for Date of Birth field in AADHAAR Card enrolment form. When the date of birth is marked as declared only birth year is printed on AADHAAR Card.
Applicant can request addition / change / correction of date of birth online on UIDAI's Self Service Update Portal without having to physically go to AADHAAR Card enrolment / update centre. Applicant can request date of birth change / correction in AADHAAR Card only once in his / her life time. Applicant will be required to upload colored scanned copy of the original Proof of Date of Birth document as per the valid documents list. A valid working mobile number must be linked to AADHAAR Card to change / correct date of birth in AADHAAR Card online. If the applicant did not mention his / her mobile number at the time of AADHAAR Card enrolment or did not link it later at AADHAAR Card enrolment / update centre, he/she needs to link it now at the AADHAAR Card centre to proceed.
Applicant can also request addition / change / correction of date of birth offline by visiting a nearby AADHAAR Card enrolment / update centre with the original supporting Proof of Date of Birth document along with the AADHAAR Card and authenticate using his / her biometrics.
Applicant will be charged ₹75 to change / correct date of birth in AADHAAR Card. This date of birth change processing fees is non-refundable.
If there are any mistakes in date of birth when applying for a new AADHAAR Card, correction can be done immediately if the applicant acts promptly and notifies the operator of any error, when the applicant is still at the AADHAAR Card centre. Once the applicant has left the AADHAAR Card centre, he/she will then have to wait for the AADHAAR Card to get generated and then apply for AADHAAR Card date of birth correction / update request.

How to add / change / update date of birth in AADHAAR Card online

- Click on the "Login" button in the myAadhaar welcome screen.
- Enter the applicant's 12 digit "AADHAAR Card Number".
- Enter the Captcha Verification code exactly as is shown in the auto-generated image on the screen. If the auto-generated Captcha Verification code is not readable, press the refresh icon to generate a new Captcha Verification code.
- Click on the "Send OTP" button; this will send an OTP (One Time Password) to the applicant's registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number and click on the "Login" button.
- Upon successful login, "Services" page is shown with available online AADHAAR Card services. Click on the "Download Aadhaar" service button.
- On the "How it Works?" page, carefully read the instructions on what information can be updated online in AADHAAR Card and how to update them and click on the "Proceed To Update Aadhaar" button.
- Click and select "Date of Birth" option from the available data field(s) that can be updated in AADHAAR Card online and click on the "Proceed To Update Aadhaar" button.
- First section displays the current date of birth details; in the second section fill the new date of birth details.
- Enter "New Date of Birth to be Updated".
- Select either "Manual Upload" or "DigiLocker" option, depending upon from where the supporting date of birth change Proof of Date of Birth document will be submitted from.
- Select the supporting Proof of Date of Birth document from the "Select Valid Supporting Document Type" dropdown list and click on "View Details & Upload Document" button.
- Once supporting Proof of Date of Birth document for date of birth update is uploaded successfully, confirm the entered date of birth change details in the Preview screen and proceed to make date of birth change processing fees payment.
- Upon successful online date of birth change request submission, a URN (Update Request Number) (such as "1234/12345/12345") will be displayed on the screen and also sent via SMS to the applicant's registered mobile number. Save this URN (Update Request Number) securely as it will be required to check AADHAAR Card update status online.
