Procedure to apply for new AADHAAR Card enrolment is made quick, hassle free and user friendly by UIDAI so the legal residents and citizen of India can apply for new AADHAAR Card registration efficiently. Foreign citizen and OCI card holders, who don't have Indian passport but who have stayed in India for atleast 182 days are legal residents of India and are also eligible to apply for AADHAAR Card regardless of their age or nationality. Similarly NRIs are also eligible for AADHAAR Card registration regardless of their resident country. Earlier restriction of staying physically in India for 182 days before applying for new AADHAAR Card is now removed from NRIs. New born babies and kids upto the age 5 are eligible for Baal AADHAAR Card, printed in blue color. Minor kids between age 5 and 18 can get regular AADHAAR Card through Head of Family method as explained below.

How to Apply for New AADHAAR Card
To apply for a new AADHAAR Card enrolment registration visit a nearby AADHAAR Card enrolment centre in India with the required supporting documents of each applicant who wish to apply for a new AADHAAR. At the AADHAAR Card enrolment centre, each applicant has to fill a separate AADHAAR Card enrolment form with requested details. The applicant has to use AADHAAR Card application form 1 or 3 or 5 based on his/her age. For an adult Indian citizen above age 18, use AADHAAR Card application Form 1. Once the filled up form and the supporting documents are in order, each applicant's biometric (iris scan, fingerprints scan and photograph) and demographic data will be captured electronically and sent to the central data processing servers.
How to Apply Baal AADHAAR for New Born Baby and Kids below age 5
New born babies and kids below age 5 are eligible to get a blue colored AADHAAR Card, called Baal AADHAAR. The child has to visit a nearby AADHAAR Card enrolment centre in India, accompanied by father / mother / guardian, with the required supporting documents. For new born babies and children below 5 years of age, only Proof of Relationship document, to establish the relationship with the accompanying father / mother / guardian, is required. The accompanying father / mother / guardian have to submit their own AADHAAR Card or EID number, if the new born baby or a child below age 5 is introduced to AADHAAR Card by them. The accompanying father / mother / guardian has to authenticate on behalf of the child and also give consent for enrolment of the child by signing the enrolment form. For new born babies and kids below age 5, use AADHAAR Card application Form 5. Also submit the Proof of Date of Birth document of the child if available. At the AADHAAR Card enrolment centre, fill separate AADHAAR Card enrolment forms with requested details for each applicant new born baby and kids below age 5. Once the filled up form and the supporting documents are in order, each child applicant's facial photograph and demographic data will be captured electronically and sent to the central data processing servers. For a new born baby and kids below 5 years age, iris scan and fingerprints scan are not captured, only facial photograph is taken. These children will need to update their biometrics of iris scan, fingerprints scan and facial photograph, when they turn 5 and 15. Intimation to this effect will be mentioned in the original AADHAAR Card letter.
How to Apply AADHAAR for a Minor Kids between age 5 and 18
Minor child between age 5 and 18 who wishes to enroll in a new AADHAAR Card, has to visit a nearby AADHAAR Card enrolment centre in India, accompanied by father / mother / guardian, with the required supporting documents. For minor kids above 5 years of age, if they do not have their own Proof of Identity and / or Proof of Address documents they have to submit the Proof of Relationship document to establish the relationship with the accompanying father / mother / guardian. The accompanying father / mother / guardian have to submit their own AADHAAR Card or EID number, if the minor child is introduced to AADHAAR Card by them. The accompanying father / mother / guardian has to authenticate on behalf of the minor child and also give consent for enrolment of the minor child by signing the enrolment form. For minor kids between age 5 and 18, use AADHAAR Card application Form 3. Also submit the Proof of Date of Birth document of the minor kid if available. At the AADHAAR Card enrolment centre, fill separate AADHAAR Card enrolment forms with requested details for each minor child applicant. Once the filled up form and the supporting documents are in order, each minor child applicant's biometric (iris scan, fingerprints scan and photograph) and demographic data will be captured electronically and sent to the central data processing servers.
AADHAAR Card Enrolment Acknowledgement Slip
At the end of the enrolment process, each applicant will be given an acknowledgement slip containing a unique Enrolment ID and Date & Time Stamp. Keep this AADHAAR Card enrolment acknowledgement slip securely as it will be required to check AADHAAR Card enrolment status, collect the approved AADHAAR Card sent via India Post as well as to download e-AADHAAR Card online. Verify the data in the AADHAAR Card enrolment acknowledgement slip carefully to make sure all the data are captured correctly. If there are any mistakes, correction in the AADHAAR Card enrolment data can be done immediately if the applicant acts promptly and notifies the operator of any error, when the applicant is still at the AADHAAR Card centre. Once the applicant has left the AADHAAR Card centre, he/she will then have to wait for the AADHAAR Card to get generated and then apply for AADHAAR Card correction / update request.
Individuals can apply for AADHAAR Card enrolment registration only once, any attempt to enrol multiple times will be rejected by the process of de-duplication using their demographic and biometric information. AADHAAR Card approval process may take around 180 days after successful enrolment registration. Once it's ready, AADHAAR Card will be delivered by the India Post on the address mentioned in their AADHAAR Card enrolment registration form.
AADHAAR Card Enrolment Documents
Each applicant must carry the supporting documents for new AADHAAR Card application in original; no Xerox copies of the documents are required. Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents are generally needed to apply for new AADHAAR Card enrolment registration. In case these documents are not available, Certificate of Identity, having photo, issued by Gazetted Officer / Tehsildar on letterhead is also accepted as valid Proof of Identity. Certificate of Address, having photo, issued by MP or MLA/Gazetted Officer / Tehsildar on letterhead or by Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas) is accepted as valid Proof of Address. Based on the document availability situation there are mainly 3 approaches for new AADHAAR Card enrolment registration.

Documents available for all applicants:
Each applicant has their own Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents. Each applicant carries the originals of their Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents with them to the AADHAAR Card enrolment centre. -
Documents available only for the Head of Family:
Only the Head of Family has his / her Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents. Head of Family carries the originals of his / her Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents with him/her to the AADHAAR Card enrolment centre. The other applicants in the family carry the Proof of Relationship document, which establishes their relationship with the Head of Family. The Head of Family will apply for new AADHAAR Card enrolment registration first and obtain the AADHAAR Card enrolment acknowledgement slip containing a unique Enrolment ID and Date & Time Stamp. Using this AADHAAR Card enrolment acknowledgement slip, the Head of Family can then introduce other members of the family for new AADHAAR Card enrolment using their respective Proof of Relationship document. -
Documents not available for any of the applicants:
None of the applicants in the family have any of the accepted Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents. In this situation, service of an introducer can be used to apply for AADHAAR Card registration. An introducer is a AADHAAR Card registrar appointed person who has a valid AADHAAR. Contact AADHAAR Card enrolment registration centre for further inquiries.
AADHAAR Card enrolment is free of cost; there are no fees / charges of any kind for new enrolment. Applicant can go to any AADHAAR Card enrolment centre in India to apply for new AADHAAR Card registration. New AADHAAR Card application form is availble for donwload online as well as it will be available at the AADHAAR Card enrolment centre. If the applicant wishes, he/she can download new AADHAAR Card application form online, print and fill it up before going to the centre to ease the paperwork at the centre.
