Procedure to update / change / correct address in AADHAAR Card is made quick, hassle free and user friendly by UIDAI. Address update / change is a frequently requested update in AADHAAR Card as many applicants migrate from one place to another across India for work or other reasons. Applicant can request update / change / correction of address online on UIDAI's Self Service Update Portal without having to physically go to AADHAAR Card enrolment / update centre. There is no cap on how many times address update / change can be requested in AADHAAR Card online. Applicant will be required to upload colored scanned copy of the original Proof of Address document as per the valid documents list. A valid working mobile number must be linked to AADHAAR Card to update / change / correct address in AADHAAR Card online. If the applicant did not mention his/her mobile number at the time of AADHAAR Card enrolment or did not link it later at AADHAAR Card enrolment / update centre, he/she needs to link it now at the AADHAAR Card centre to proceed.
Applicant can also request update / change / correction of address offline by visiting a nearby AADHAAR Card enrolment / update centre with the original supporting Proof of Address document along with the AADHAAR Card and authenticate using his/her biometrics.
Applicant will be charged ₹75 to update / change address in AADHAAR Card. This address change processing fees is non-refundable.
If there are any mistakes in the address when applying for a new AADHAAR Card, correction can be done immediately if the applicant acts promptly and notifies the operator of any error, when the applicant is still at the AADHAAR Card centre. Once the applicant has left the AADHAAR Card centre, he/she will then have to wait for the AADHAAR Card to get generated and then apply for AADHAAR Card address correction / update request.

How to update / change / correct address in AADHAAR Card online

- Click on the "Login" button in the myAadhaar welcome screen.
- Enter the applicant's 12 digit "AADHAAR Card Number".
- Enter the Captcha Verification code exactly as is shown in the auto-generated image on the screen. If the auto-generated Captcha Verification code is not readable, press the refresh icon to generate a new Captcha Verification code.
- Click on the "Send OTP" button; this will send an OTP (One Time Password) to the applicant's registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number and click on the "Login" button.
- Upon successful login, "Services" page is shown with available online AADHAAR Card services. Click on the "Download Aadhaar" service button.
- On the "How it Works?" page, carefully read the instructions on what information can be updated online in AADHAAR Card and how to update them and click on the "Proceed To Update Aadhaar" button.
- Click and select "Address" option from the available data field(s) that can be updated in AADHAAR Card online and click on the "Proceed To Update Aadhaar" button.
- First section displays the current address details; in the second section fill the new address details in English as well as in local language.
- Enter "Care Of", "House / Building / Apartment", "Street / Road / Lane", "Area / Locality / Sector" and "Landmark" details in English as well as in local language. Next enter the "Pincode". Based upon the entered pincode, the AADHAAR Card system will automatically fetch the locality details which needs to be selected from the auto populated dropdown boxes in "Village / Town / City", "Post Office", "District" and "State". Please note that the applicant can optionally add his/her father's / husband's name in the "Care Of" data field.
- Select either "Manual Upload" or "DigiLocker" option, depending upon from where the supporting address change Proof of Address document will be submitted from.
- Select the supporting Proof of Address document from the "Select Valid Supporting Document Type" dropdown list and click on the "View Details & Upload Document" button and the click on the "Next" button.
- Once supporting Proof of Address document for address update is uploaded successfully, confirm the entered address change details in the Preview screen and proceed to make address change processing fees payment.
- Upon successful online address change request submission, a URN (Update Request Number) (such as "1234/12345/12345") will be displayed on the screen and also sent via SMS to the applicant's registered mobile number. Save this URN (Update Request Number) securely as it will be required to check AADHAAR Card update status online.
